The Fellowship commissioned various perspectives on factors that impact on first year curriculum design.
The seven case study exemplars that have been prepared under the Fellowship (in Applied Sciences, Arts & Social Sciences, Science, Education, Information Technology, Creative Arts and Law) have been examined by a panel of experts (both national and international) from a variety of perspectives deemed critical to the implementation of an effective first year transition pedagogy.
The perspectives presented do not purport to be an exhaustive examination of all the many and various possible curriculum influences, but they go some way towards being representative of many of the potential curricula and co-curricula matters that can have implications for the design, delivery and coherence of the first year curriculum. Crucially, staff and student perspectives are included in the commentaries presented, while a focus on coordinated whole-of-institution action underpins many of the observations made.
