Several case study exemplars of good first year curriculum design were prepared under the auspices of the Fellowship.

Several collaborators across a spread of disciplines (education, arts and social sciences, information technology, applied sciences, law, creative arts, science, engineering) and institution types (two international and several national (Go8, ATN, IRU, Regional) have adopted an interpretative approach to developing first year curriculum design case studies which explore and explain the people, processes and technologies pivotal to their identified curriculum renewal initiative.

Once developed, each case study will be circulated to a panel of the expert commentators for insights, commentary and/or frameworks to be developed around perspectives identified as critical for successful first year learning engagement (such as: early formative assessment; academic preparedness; graduate attributes; diversity; sessional staff engagement; career connections, etc). The case studies and expert commentaries developed will then form the basis of the resources from which a Guiding Principles for a Transition Pedagogy will be developed.
